The rugby world lost a great man today.
Starting in the mid-2000s, John Cawthray took the FAU men’s program to another level, really turning it into a club and not just a team. He also helped turn boys into proper rugby gentlemen, both on and off the pitch, and even coached the women when needed.
He will be sorely missed, and all who knew him will be forever grateful for having done so. His phrase “every day’s a holiday” might not be as true today for those who he has left behind, but it’s a great motto to live a full life by, something he certainly did.
RIP big man.
